After officially calling it quits on Zapdos about 1.5 months ago, I’ve been drifting. Last month I talked to 8 people who were looking for technical cofounders or were exploring ideas. None of them had real traction or a solid idea. So many timewasters where there was no point in talking. They should have a paid pilot contract signed and to build the product to show in the demo calls, or had a pilot call coming soon and need to whip up a quick prototype.
Last week I met a structural engineer who told me where he could see improvements in his tools. He had ideas and was entrepreneurial. He would work efficiently but had a hard time convincing his coworkers to do the same. For example he used LLMs but most of his cowokers didn’t.
He had no pilots but at least had 3 concrete ideas based on his experience. And had a network he was willing to tap into to start discovery interviews. He’s 51 so double my age but he’s an energetic guy. Will see how this pans out, much more interesting than everyone else I talked to.
Jobs
I am passively job searching, my heart is not into it. Going to reach out to my network moreso than cold applying. Got 2 callbacks so far, 1 rejection from them. I’m going to make a job scraper with playwright that uses google search queries + LI scraping + cold email to get my resume seen. Targeting startups and my 3 email sequence will have stories from my past 2 startups. Even if they did not make revenue, I did a lot of things and have stories + scars to share.
I thought I was done with startups after my last one. But it’s pulling me back after talking to that structural engineer. I’m fortunate that I live with my parents so I have 0 bills to pay and a high risk appetite.
